Law enforcement were running through the streets of Orange County carrying the “Flame of Hope” on its way to the Summer Games. During parts of the journey, some of the young Olympians helped in the run and got to carry the flame alongside the officers.
The Special Olympics flame entered Orange County in Laguna Beach and headed north on Pacific Coastå Highway though Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. The run then headed through Irvine, Tustin and Orange, ending in Garden Grove. The torch’s journey continued in Anaheim, Fullerton, Brea and La Habra.
The flame traveled about 1,500 miles and through 200 Southern California cities on its way to reach the Summer Games Opening Ceremony in Long Beach that was held on June 13-14, 2015.
